The Honda CR-V: Bringing Excitement Back To Driving an SUV

The Honda CR-V has won several awards and has gotten several accommodations. And why not? With front or all-wheel drive options, this sport utility vehicle gets you where you want to go, the way you want. With the same fuel efficiency Honda is known for, you can get far away for longer while still having all the creature comforts and technology that come standard in this vehicle.  The cargo hold is generous, so nothing gets left behind on your next outing, whether you plan to be away for an afternoon or a nice long getaway.

A Glimpse into the 2018 Honda CR-V

The changes that came around in 2017 were big changes that frankly set a whole new standard for what is the fifth generation of this vehicle, so for the 2018 model, tweaks and changes have been implemented that were demanded by the community. A new turbo-charged engine is available on all CR-V models with the exception of the basic LX and with low torque, and excellent gas mileage, you won't have a fill-up on your to-do list. The tracks are wider front and back and the wheel-base slightly longer with an added 1.5 inches of ground clearance. So forget about that unwanted underbelly scraping on steeper inclines or uneven terrain.  Inside, the cabin offers additional legroom for backseat passengers along with a modernized dashboard, instrument cluster with touchscreen capability, and the much appreciated and preferred volume knob.

A Brief History of the CR-V

With its debut in Japan in 1996, The Honda CR-V was subsequently introduced to the United States and North America the following year in 1997. A comfortable 5-passenger vehicle with 4-wheel drive, it became the reliable choice for crossover buyers. In 1998, a 2-wheel drive version hit the market which offered those consumers without the need for 4-wheel drive to get in the game while saving on their bottom line. Then, just a year later, the 4-cylinder engine replaced the 2-cylinders as the new standard, adding considerable horses.  Notably was the new i-VTEC engine in 2002 along with additional cargo space. Through the years that followed, the vehicle just got better with 166 horsepower then to 180 horsepower in 2007 and 2010 respectively.
