A Brief History of the CR-V

With its debut in Japan in 1996, The Honda CR-V was subsequently introduced to the United States and North America the following year in 1997. A comfortable 5-passenger vehicle with 4-wheel drive, it became the reliable choice for crossover buyers. In 1998, a 2-wheel drive version hit the market which offered those consumers without the need for 4-wheel drive to get in the game while saving on their bottom line. Then, just a year later, the 4-cylinder engine replaced the 2-cylinders as the new standard, adding considerable horses. Notably was the new i-VTEC engine in 2002 along with additional cargo space. Through the years that followed, the vehicle just got better with 166 horsepower then to 180 horsepower in 2007 and 2010 respectively.
