Annual Everett Christmas Tree Lighting

December 2nd, 2019 by

On a brisk winter night, the town of Everett will gather in the square to welcome the holidays with a cherished local tradition. Make plans to meet with friends and family for the annual Everett Christmas Tree Lighting!

When and Where
The ceremony and surrounding festivities will take place in Everett Square on Friday, December 6. The event begins at 5 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m.

Get into the Christmas Spirit
The celebration begins when Santa Claus arrives at the square riding on a fire truck. Local civic groups will lead the crowd in classic Christmas carols, and you can look forward to the voices of our own Girl Scouts, On Pointe Dance Academy, and Everett High School PopVox choir. Santa and Mrs. Claus will perform a special number, and Boston’s Angelena Hightower and the Unit will bring their own soulful R&B to the square as well.

Lighting the Tree
After sundown, the tree will shine and all of downtown Everett will be officially ready for the holiday season. The festivities will follow with arts and crafts, balloon twisters, face painters, and other attractions around the square. Two trains will cruise up and down Norwood Street, and you can also catch a ride on a horse-drawn carriage or sleigh. Kids can also explore the amusement area with special attractions based on Frozen and Toy Story. From 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Santa will be upstairs in a special Christmas-themed room at the Parlin Library. He would love to meet everyone and take photos to commemorate the event.

The City of Everett’s Annual Toy Drive
The holidays are a season of giving, and the people of Everett have an opportunity to support needy children as Christmas approaches. The city is now collecting donations for the annual toy drive, and you can bring a gift with you to the Tree Lighting ceremony to make a big difference in a child’s Christmas. You can also donate any time before the event by bringing your gift to City Hall, located at 484 Broadway, Everett, Massachusetts. 02149.
